Big Top Tents 54m System

YELLOW on the outside, with DEEP RED sidewalling and inside MEDIUM BLUE top with LIGHT ORANGE reinforcing and DARK BLUE sidewalling.

DESIGN – This is a modular system of a range of high profile tents with pyramid shaped end sections. These tents are very striking and attractive structures, modern and elegant in appearance with a warm, friendly interior and whilst suitable for many different purposes they are specially designed for every kind of music, the design facilitates good lighting, sound and presentation.

ACOUSTICS – This system has been designed for the best possible acoustics, experience has shown the importance of avoiding convoluted curves and any shapes which may distort or trp or muffle the sound. We also consider the resonance of the skin of the structure when pulling out and as a result these tents have excellent responsive acoustistics.

SAFETY – This tent is rigged with three hour battery maintained exit lights, one for each exit. 1k halogen floods are rigged inside the top of the tent for use as working lights and also as emergency lighting. All the safetly lighting is cabled to the back stage area.

CERTIFICATION – The tent and steel work carries and engineer’s certificate in accordance with CP3, Chapter V, Part Two, “Wind Loading of Temporary Structures”. The tent material is blackout PVC coated woven terylene flame retardant to BS 5438 1989 and also to French M2.

DESIGN A surprisingly large venue, but one that does not dwarf either the performers or the public, anyone who has been to a show in it will tell you how exceptionally warm and friendly the atmosphere can be inside this venue, and the acoustics are responsive and accurate.
STAGE The venue works very well with a side stage when the cupola and trusses are well placed to provide easy fixings for lighting, and also reduce the need for ground support. The venue also works well with an end stage, when we can arrange to alter the end quarter poles to allow a clear view of the stage.
RIGGING The major steel work of the structure is designed to facilitate rigging. The lattice king poles are designed to take lighting and sound equipment, up to two tonnes on each king pole, and the lattice work has cross pieces with 48mm OD tube, which makes fixing both equipment and trussing very easy. The cupola is inside the tent and is a lattice box structure, designed to take a distributed load of 1 tonne for rigging lighting and other equipment. Access to the cupola is from the king poles which are easy to climb. The four quarter poles for each pair of centres are lattice work and each pair supports a truss between them which can take a distributed load of 250kg. The lattice quarter poles are designed to take lighting and sound equipment up to a total of 400kg each including any load on the truss, and are accessible from the lattice quarter poles.
SIDEWALLING 4m high, Deep Red outside, Dark Blue inside.
DOORWAYS As many as required, steel frame double doorways 2.4m wide.
